40 years of Priesthood of Fr Kazimierz Bojda and Fr Bernard Bednarz.
The Newcastle Maitland Parish was the scene for the celebration of 40 years of Priesthood of Fr Kazimierz Bojda and Fr Bernard Bednarz.
Both priests celebrated their ordination to Priesthood on 20-5-1971 in Poznan. Fr Bojda commenced his ministry in Australia in 1974 and his parishes have included Cabramatta, Fairfield, Liverpool, then Marayong, Hobart, St. Albans - Ardeer, Dandenong - Ringwood, Keysborough and currently Newcastle-Maitland Parish. Fr Bednarz commenced his ministry in Australia in 1973 in Bowen Hills, Newborough, Newcastle-Maitland, Auckland-NZ, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Keysborough, Wellington-NZ, and currently at Maroochydore/Sunshine Coast.
The celebration on Sunday 22-5-2011 commenced with Mass at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newcastle. Fr Zbigniew Pajdak also took part in the proceedings and delivered a wonderful homily. During the Mass, parishioners Michal and Wladyslawa Zarebny, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mass was followed by a reception and a tasty three course meal at Dom Polski.
Rev. Monsignor Allen Hart joined the celebrations in the Hall. Taking part in the celebrations were many former parishioners including from Cabramatta and Fairfield. Podhale Folklore Ensemble was honoured in providing the main entertainment.
We thank Fr Kazimierz and Fr Bernard for their much valued 40 years of pastoral service to the community.
